Position Summary

Villanova University invites applications for adjunct teaching positions in our Paralegal Certificate program with the College of Professional Studies. Applications accepted for both the Full-Time Day and Part-Time Evening program. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester but general needs are in the areas of:
  • Introduction to Basic Legal Principles
  • Paralegal Office Coordination
  • Contract Law
  • Torts & Personal Injury Law
  • Civil Procedure and the Litigation Process
  • Ethics
  • Using Case Law and Basic Legal Writing
  • E-Research
  • Document Prep
  • Business Organization
  • Criminal Law
  • Employment Law
  • Estates & Trust
  • Family Law
  • Intellectual Property
  • Real Estate

Duties and Responsibilities

TEACHING
a. Conducting in a professional manner all class hours as assigned by the course schedule and academic calendar.
b. Creating correct, professional syllabi that meet Faculty Syllabus Checklist requirements.
c. Preparing and submitting accurate and precise attendance rosters, student grades, book orders, leave reports, and other assigned documents when due.
d. Instructors will utilize University digital resources such as Blackboard and Novasis to administer tests, record attendance, and submit grades.
e. Creating, administering, and accurately assessing substantive assignments and activities that require critical thinking.
f. Meeting classes on time and for the full duration of the published class time.
g. Attendance at college-wide meetings and paralegal graduation ceremonies.
h. Maintaining alternative educational activities that students may use in the event of faculty illness.
i. Supporting and following college policies and procedures.
ACADEMIC ADVISING
a. Providing accurate academic advising to student whenever needed.
b. Participating in advisor in-service training.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
a. Providing accurate academic advising to student whenever needed.
b. Participating in advisor in-service training.



Minimum Qualifications

Masters Degree required. Experience working as or with Paralegals. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to assess student learning through testing, presentations, and in-class simulations. Ability to teach adult students using methods that promote engaged learning.Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.



Preferred Qualifications

  • JD preferred
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.




Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

This position will require night and/or weekend work.
