Position Overview

KU Law is partnering with Themis Bar Review to provide KU Law students with a post-graduation bar preparation course and a Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination preparation course. This position will provide instruction for the Early Bar Preparation course (EBP) component of the bar preparation program. This position will also provide support and oversight to the students enrolled in the bar preparation program.

This is a non-tenure-track, part-time, temporary teaching position for the Spring 2019 and Summer 2019 terms.

The successful applicant must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.

Job Description

Develop and provide classroom instructor for the two-credit hour Early Bar Preparation course (EBP) offered in the Spring semester. This course will focus on the Multistate Performance Test and Multistate Bar Exam and/or Multistate Essay Exam and will involve skills workshops.

(65%) – Evaluate student work and administer and grade assessment exams for each MBE subject, one midterm exam and one final exam.

(35%) – Maintain office hours and email availability throughout the Spring and Summer sessions to assist students and to monitor student progress with the bar preparation course. Track student progress and provide updates and reports as warranted using the Themis Learning Portal. Identify and assist students who may be falling behind in their course completion.

Required Qualifications

1. J.D. from an ABA accredited law school or its foreign equivalent.
2. Minimum 5 years post JD professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prior teaching and/or academic support experience at the university or law school level.
2. Familiarity with bar preparation coursework.
