The College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan seeks to fill two tenure-track positions, one in the area of Indigenous Law and the second in core areas of our First Year program.

With regards to the first position, the College has embarked on a project to bring about the next evolution of the Native Law Centre. The College therefore seeks applications from teachers and scholars in the area of Indigenous Law to assist the recently appointed Academic Director of the Native Law Centre in bringing that project to completion. In addition, the College will formally implement its curricular responses to the TRC Calls to Action in September 2018, including the introduction of a compulsory first year class to address issues raised by the TRC. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the delivery of that programming and in the first year curriculum more generally. It is essential that First Year law students are given a thorough grounding in this area and the successful applicant will play a significant role in ensuring that learning outcome is achieved. The successful applicant will also spend a percentage of their academic time in the Native Law Centre contributing to its research and publication output. It is anticipated that this appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level but the College would be willing to recruit established scholars at the Associate Professor level in this area if the successful candidate brings a significant and ongoing program of research to the College. While the College welcomes applications from all qualified applicants, strong preference for this position will be given to qualified applicants of First Nation, Metis or Inuit ancestry.

With regards to the second position, while the College is willing to accept applications in any area of legal study it has particular teaching and research needs in the core areas of our first year program, namely Torts, Criminal Law, Property & Constitutional Law and will give strong preference to qualified applicants in one of those areas of teaching and research. As with the first position, it is anticipated that this appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, the College is willing to recruit established scholars in these areas and would be willing to appoint at the Associate Professor level if the successful candidate brings a significant and ongoing program of research to the College.

The College of Law is the oldest law school in western Canada, and has provided public service, innovative legal education and high-quality legal scholarship to the Province, Canada and beyond since 1912. The College of Law has embarked upon a period of renewal and expansion and is seeking to develop its faculty complement in many areas. The College boasts three major endowed chairs, including the most recently endowed Estey Chair in Business Law. These chairs allow the College to bring distinguished scholars from around the world to the University. The College is also home to the Native Law Centre which is undergoing a similar process of renewal and expansion. In September 2017 the College opened the Nunavut Law Program in Iqaluit. The College offers an LL.M. degree that attracts promising new researchers thus providing faculty with the opportunity to engage in graduate supervision. Each year, the College actively pursues world-renowned academics to present seminars on a wide array of issues and plays host to at least one major international conference.

Salary bands are as follows: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925
