The Charlotte School of Law invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Law School.
Founded in 2006 as the third school in the Infilaw Consortium of law schools, the Charlotte School of Law is the only law school located in the growing city of Charlotte, North Carolina.
ABOUT THE LAW SCHOOL:
As a relatively new law school, the Law School is at an exciting point in its development. The Law School is growing dramatically in regard to students, Faculty and Staff. The Law School moved into three floors of a very attractive modern 100,000 square foot building in August 2008. Expansion to the fourth floor is scheduled to begin in the Spring Semester of 2010. Tremendous opportunities exist to leverage the remarkable assets of a growing city and to continue to recruit talented Faculty, Staff and students. We take great pride in our student-centered approach to teaching and our Faculty’s open door policy which fosters intellectual curiosity and promotes mentorship.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Law School and reports to the President and CEO of Infilaw. The Dean is responsible for long-range planning, academic leadership, curricula, budgets, personnel matters, representation of the Law School, both inside and outside, of the Infilaw Consortium and the promotion of its reputation. The Dean will be fully engaged in the life of the Law School, as well as the Charlotte community and legal community.
The successful candidate should be able to articulate how he or she will help lead the School toward achievement of its mission of becoming the benchmark of excellence in legal education for the 21st-century. The successful candidate should also have a substantial commitment to legal education, scholarship and public service, together with the vision and executive skills needed to lead a growing, contemporary law school.
In addition, the candidate should have tenure or meet tenure eligibility as a Full Professor, with significant experience in legal education and practical legal experience outside the classroom.
The Dean will provide entrepreneurial, creative and inspirational guidance and support to take the Law School forward as a vibrant, intellectual community.
The Dean will promote market leading performance, using the model of outcome based evaluation.
Candidates must demonstrate superb interpersonal and administrative skills, the ability to develop short- and long-term goals, as well as the highest level of personal integrity.
The successful candidate will have the capacity to advance the Law School and to be a global ambassador for its three differentiating mission pillars of student centered outcomes, employer preferred graduates and serving the underserved.

The Search Committee will begin review of applications on October 16, 2009.
