The Director will manage all aspects of the Office of Career Services. Specifically, the Director will work with students to secure placements for post-graduate employment as well as internships and externships. The Director will schedule and conduct career fairs and coordinate on-campus interviews for students each year. The Director is expected to schedule workshops during each semester to cover topics such as interview skills, resume preparation, professional conduct, judicial clerkships, public interest law careers, private practice, and summer jobs. This individual is responsible for the data collection, completion, and submission of the annual NALP and ABA employment reports.
This individual will assist students and alumni in exploring career options and securing employment. The Director provides career counseling and guidance on job searches and will develop and maintain a resource library. The Director also serves as a liaison to prospective employers and oversees the collection of available position openings and postings on job boards. This individual will also be responsible for other tasks as assigned by the supervisor, the Dean of Experiential Learning.
A J.D. degree is preferred. A master’s degree in education, student counseling, guidance, or a related field will be considered. Experience working in Career Services is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills, energy, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and an ability to be an effective team member are required. The Director must be strongly committed to a tradition of courteous and helpful service and to working with a diverse student population.
This is a full-time exempt position with fringe benefits.
