Summary
In consultation with the Dean and Senior Associate Dean, the Director of Admissions is the law school’s chief admissions officer who administers the law school admissions program.

Anticipated hiring range: $71,000 to $85,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

APPLICATION BUILDING. Oversee and ensure that application goals are met for the admissions cycle. Develop and effectively implement annual recruitment strategy to generate applications and build rapport with prospective students. Work closely with the marketing department to determine advertising goals, necessary updates to the viewbook and supplemental materials, and other similar needs. Recruit candidates to apply to the law school via various prelaw forums, coordinate special events focused on increasing applications including but not limited to open houses, information sessions, meet and greet programs. Further develop and implement admissions plan for greater diversity outreach. Plan special events and creative events to increase applications. Oversee a coordinated tour program involving student ambassadors. Counsel prospective students in person, via telephone, via email, and other avenues. Work with main campus IT to coordinate email blasts, Google advertising to be tied in with the website message, Facebook advertising, chat features, and direct general website updates for Admissions with specific messages to meet application goals. Coordinate direct mail campaign utilizing Candidate Referral Service (LSAC).

DEPOSIT BUILDING. Oversee and ensure that enrollment goals are met for the entering class. Take measures to build rapport with admitted applicants via telephone, email, special events, committees of alumni/faculty or student leaders, and other avenues. Plan and implement special events targeted to admitted students including but not limited to open houses with the goal of increasing deposits. Determine necessary promotional items to help meet enrollment goals.

ANALYSIS. Perform daily and weekly statistical analysis to check progress of applications and ultimately meet deposit/enrollment goals throughout the year. Perform additional analysis and tracking including, but not limited to, where applicants and deposit payors heard about Barry, as well as backgrounds and trends of applicants and deposit payors. Manage the departmental budget ensuring fiscal responsibility in all aspects including, but not limited to, travel expenses, special event expenses, scholarship programs, promotional items, marketing costs, and student ambassadors. Through focus groups and surveys distributed to the entering class within the first month, solicit feedback from these new students about effective recruitment strategies used by the law school in order to help effectively plan for the new admissions cycle.

MANAGE: Hire, supervise and manage Associate Director and Operations Manager. Set weekly and monthly priorities and organize the staff’s work flow to effectuate the most efficient response for applicants. Determine procedures to be followed by team members. Supervise the processing and data entry of over 2,000 applicants annually. Control the department budget, ensuring that all expenditures are made in a fiscally financial manner.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS. In conjunction with the Academic Dean and Senior Associate Dean, plan and implement fall and spring orientation programs for new students with careful consideration of room reservations, scheduling for three sections of students, logistics during the event, and communication with the new students as to details of the event. Additionally, this position is responsible for the law school admissions test (LSAT) administration on campus, to familiarize pre-law students with the law school campus and eventually generate applicants.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required. Master of Business Administration or Juris Doctorate preferred.
Proven track record of 3-5 years of experience in admissions required.
Knowledge of advertising and marketing and the admissions market.
Strong awareness of higher education trends.
Knowledge of the admissions cycle and the mechanics of enrolling a class.
