The University at Buffalo School of Law invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Law in its Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research (LAWR) Program. The LAWR Program provides intensive skills training to first-, second-, and third-year law students with a strong emphasis on small-group and individual learning.

The LAWR Program, which is part of a broader Skills Program, includes two courses that are required for first-year students. In future years, it will also include a third required course that is open only to second- and third-year students.

The Lecturer will be expected to:
  • Teach one section of LAWR each semester in conjunction with the Law School’s library and academic staff.
  • Prepare their own lesson plans and research and writing projects, and will collaborate with the other Legal Skills Faculty.
  • Teach all three courses on a rotating basis.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life of the school, will have the opportunity to serve on faculty committees and vote in Faculty meetings, and will be encouraged to pursue broader teaching and scholarly activities.
 
This position involves a full-time 12-month University appointment for an initial period of two years, beginning in the summer of 2023, with an assumption that at least one subsequent three-year appointment will follow. The possibility of renewing these appointments after the initial five-year period is also assumed. One position will be filled at a salary of $65,000 - $70,000 per year.
