The University of South Dakota School of Law invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Experiential Learning. The position will be at either the lecturer or the senior lecturer level, based on experience and qualifications. A lecturer at the University of South Dakota School of Law is considered a full member of the faculty. The successful applicant will receive a 12-month appointment for the 2018-2019 year. The term is renewable and is evaluated on a yearly basis.
The position will be responsible for developing and overseeing the experiential learning compliance programs in areas of trust, banking and health. The position will also assist the Experiential Learning Director in the continued development of the pro bono program, as well as supervising and coordinating pro bono work. As the position matures, there will be the possibility of expanding into the development of additional clinics, practicums, and other experiential learning initiatives. It is likely that the Lecturer of Experiential Learning will assist with a limited number of co-curricular events and/or be an advisor or co-advisor to one of the major co-curricular activities and may be asked to help teach an experiential course. The experiential lecturer will be expected to perform a significant number of activities in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. Unique opportunities could also be coordinated in other areas of the state.
The successful applicant must be a licensed attorney in a United States jurisdiction (a state or the District of Columbia) by the time of the appointment.
Depending on experience and expertise, teaching other substantive courses is negotiable
