The University at Buffalo School of Law invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Law in its Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research (LAWR) Program. The LAWR Program provides intensive skills training to first-, second-, and third-year law students with a strong emphasis on small-group and individual learning.

This position involves a full-time 12-month University appointment for an initial period of two years, beginning in the summer of 2024 with an assumption that at least one subsequent three-year appointment will follow. The possibility of renewing these appointments after the initial five-year period is also assumed. Two positions will be filled.

The LAWR Program includes two courses that are required for first-year students and a third required course that is open only to second- and third-year students. This Lecturer will initially teach the third required course in the LAWR Program. Lecturers will be expected to teach all three courses on a rotating basis.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach one section of the third required LAWR course each semester. The Law School’s library and academic staff will provide support as needed. Lecturers will be expected to prepare their own lesson plans and research and writing projects and are encouraged to collaborate with other LAWR Faculty.

Lecturers are also expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the school, will have the opportunity to serve on faculty committees and vote in faculty meetings, and will be encouraged to pursue broader teaching and scholarly activities.
