    Position Purpose
    The Research Fellow will play a pivotal role in advancing the research agenda of the CLARS Malaysia Hub, specifically for the Contract Law Review and Reform Project funded by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department (BHEUU). This position focuses on conducting high-quality, impactful research in commercial law and regulatory studies, with a particular emphasis on reviewing and reforming Malaysia's contract law. The appointed individual will work closely with Associate Professor Dr. Adnan Trakic's research team to contribute to the development of Malaysia’s contract law and the production of world-class publications. The role requires active collaboration with academic and industry stakeholders, contributing to policy recommendations and supporting the Hub’s mission to assist governments, industries, and other relevant stakeholders.
    This position is essential to enhancing Monash University’s standing as a leader in legal scholarship and its commitment to fostering positive societal change through rigorous, evidence-based research and engagement


    Key Responsibilties



    1. Conduct original research and develop an active record of publication in Q1 journals

    2. Actively engage with external stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, and relevant industries, to advance the Hub’s mission and foster impactful partnerships. 

    3. Coordinate the activities of research assistants engaged by the Hub, ensuring the timely delivery of outputs and maintaining high-quality standards

    4. Apply for external research funding to support the Hub’s initiatives and establish a sustainable funding pipeline

    5. Attend meetings associated with research projects, departmental, school, and faculty activities.

    6. Support the management of education, research, and/or administration within the Hub and School by participating in committees, contributing to strategic initiatives, and staying informed on emerging trends in commercial law and regulatory studies


    Key Selection Criteria



    1. A PhD or equivalent qualification in Law, with a strong focus on commercial law and regulatory studies

    2. Demonstrated expertise in commercial law and regulatory studies, with a proven track record of high-quality research outputs

    3. Specific expertise in contract law will be considered an advantage

    4. Evidence of the ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative research projects.

    5. A developing record of securing research grants and/or external funding.

    6. Strong engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders such as governmental and non-governmental organizations, and industry representatives.

    7. Experience in supervising or coordinating research assistants or teams.

    8. A demonstrated ability to contribute to the broader academic environment, including participation in committees, educational activities, and research initiatives.

    9. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex ideas to academic and non-academic audiences.
