Position Overview

The University of Kansas School of Law invites applications for full-time, non-tenure track visiting professor, visiting associate professor, or visiting assistant professor position for the spring 2020 semester.

We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated scholarly achievement and teaching excellence in the area of Indian and Tribal Law. In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university actively encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups in higher education. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. prior to the start of employment.

Job Description

1. Teach Federal Indian Law Course (3 credits) and one other 3 credit hour course during the spring 2020 semester. This includes class preparation, meeting and counseling students, and administering final exams. (65%)

2. Conduct and publish research. (25%)

3. Provide some service to the law school, university, and the legal profession. (10%)

*Note – incumbent is ineligible to apply for any other position at KU Law until he or she leaves the visiting professor position.

Required Qualifications

Visiting Assistant Professor:
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
Demonstrated outstanding academic and legal performance.
Visiting Associate Professor:
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
Demonstrated outstanding academic and legal performance.
Minimum of 3 years Law School teaching experience.
Visiting Professor:
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
Demonstrated outstanding academic and legal performance.
Minimum of 7 years Law School teaching experience.
