We are seeking an outstanding leader for Te Piringa Faculty of Law. The Dean is the senior strategic and academic leader of the Faculty, responsible for shaping its intellectual, professional and operational culture and direction. This also includes the effective stewardship of its resources.

There is a responsibility to lead programme developments that will increase student numbers, advance the quality of teaching and research in the Faculty, and increase the visibility and impact of the Faculty with local and national stakeholders. Founded in 1991 Te Piringa – Faculty of Law is a modern faculty that is built on three core principles; professionalism, biculturalism and the study of law in context. These principles guide the provision of an excellent contemporary legal education with a strong commitment to integrating professional skills while studying the law in its social context, notably addressing the Treaty of Waitangi obligations as part of its commitment to biculturalism. Its mission is to provide critical research for the public good and liberal legal education.

Te Piringa Faculty of Law offers academic programmes leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Laws (including an Honours programme) and a range of combined degrees, Diploma in Law, Master of Laws, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy. The Faculty’s teaching in the Bachelor of Laws is subject to the oversight of the Council of Legal Education for the purpose of maintaining academic requirements for admission to the practice of law in New Zealand.
