The Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University (TRU Law) invites applications from candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and collegial governance. We are seeking to fill one tenure-track position, subject to budgetary approval, at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. This role focuses on clinical instruction within a legal clinic setting, alongside teaching responsibilities in the core JD curriculum. The appointment is expected to commence on July 1, 2026.
Candidates are required to submit the following as part of their application package:
- A letter of application identifying teaching interests
- A detailed curriculum vitae
- Transcripts of all legal studies (undergraduate and graduate)
- The names of three academic referees
- Course evaluation reports, if available

Applicants must have a JD (or equivalent) and over 10 years of experience teaching in or supervising a law clinic setting. Applicants should also have experience teaching courses in the core JD curriculum or courses similar to the upper-year offerings at TRU Law. Additionally, they should have the ability and willingness to contribute to the intellectual and scholarly life of the Faculty, and the University more generally.
Please note the ranks and associated scales:
Assistant Teaching Professor: TS-1 to TS-12 ($73,666 – $114,124)
Note: subject to qualifications and experience, our preferred candidate would meet the criteria for an appointment at TS-10 ($106,067) or above. Candidates will also be awarded an annual $20,000 market supplement in addition to base salary, per LOU #15 (Market Supplements – Establishment of the TRU Faculty of Law) of the TRU/TRUFA Collective Agreement.
$73,665.93 - $187,352.80 ( According to TRUFA Salary Schedule (Range TS01 - TS35) )
