The position is designed to support instructional needs in high-demand core areas of private law including first year private law curriculum (contracts, torts, or property) and upper year curriculum including Commercial Law, Corporations, Taxation Law, and Ethical Practice.

Additional assets may include capacity to teach in Comparative Business Law, Conflict of Laws, International Business Transactions, Business and Human Rights, International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, or related fields. The candidate will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, experiential and access-to-justice-based teaching innovations.

  • Business ethics and human rights
  • Comparative or transnational commercial law
  • International economic law
  • Economic transformation and access to innovation for marginalized communities
  • Private law more generally, or other cognate areas identified by the applicant

The appointee will be supported in producing peer-reviewed publications, securing research funding, and advancing the Desautels Centre's national and international reputation in private law research.

Service:

The candidate will contribute to faculty governance and institutional service. Engagement with the Desautels Centre’s entrepreneurial communities, advancing Indigenous economic reconciliation, and policy innovation will be encouraged.

Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Evidence of or potential for teaching excellence in the areas outlined above
  • A promising or established research record
  • Commitment to collegial service
